Curate, do not accumulate
A category holds two or three products. If a listing cannot be defended to a partner who asks why it is there, it does not belong in the catalog.
Elev8 Cloud exists because the people building it spend their working lives inside the MSP channel, buying security tooling, provisioning it, billing it, and supporting it. The friction in that process is not theoretical here.
Cloud distributors earn margin by aggregating software from many vendors and reselling it to a channel of MSPs, adding a purchasing platform, consolidated billing, provisioning automation, and support on top. The advantage is rarely the catalog. It is the buying and operating experience wrapped around it.
Competing horizontally with entrenched distributors on day one is not a serious plan for a company at this stage. The capital, the vendor relationships, and the platform investment are all substantial, and the biggest vendors sell through a small settled set of distributors who are not looking to add another.
So Elev8 Cloud starts where the door is actually open. Security and compliance software vendors, especially newer ones, want channel reach and struggle to get it. Security led MSPs are an underserved partner segment who buy deliberately and value curation. Serving both well is a defensible position, and it is a better starting point than being another horizontal marketplace.
This is a sequence rather than a set of workstreams. Each phase depends on the one before it having actually landed.
Business and legal groundwork
Entity structure, distribution agreements, insurance, and the first vendor conversations. Nothing gets sold until the paperwork underneath it is real.
The partner portal and its plumbing
Catalog, provisioning connectors, billing and reconciliation, and the partner portal itself, built lean over proven components rather than from scratch everywhere.
Founding partners and the first catalog
Founding partner recruitment, onboarding, and the first client cutovers. Build order is set by what founding partners actually hit.
Widen the catalog, deepen the platform
Additional vendor categories, horizontal cloud products, deeper automation, and the SOC 2 audit that partners handling regulated data will ask for.
Four commitments that are easy to write and awkward to keep, which is rather the point of writing them down.
A category holds two or three products. If a listing cannot be defended to a partner who asks why it is there, it does not belong in the catalog.
Elev8 Cloud sells to the channel and never around it. No direct motion, no contacting your clients, no competing for the account once it gets large.
A distributor selling security tooling on a weakly controlled platform is not credible. Controls, audit logging, and the path to SOC 2 are designed in rather than added under pressure.
This is a platform in build, recruiting founding partners. Saying so costs a few applications and saves everyone the relationship damage that overselling causes.
Elev8 Cloud is founded and run by the team behind Nwaj Tech, a Connecticut cybersecurity MSP and virtual CISO practice serving small and mid sized businesses in regulated verticals: healthcare and dental, legal, accounting, and auto retail.
That background is the reason for the catalog's shape. Every category on the catalog page corresponds to something the founding team has had to buy, deploy, defend in an assessment, or explain to a client after an incident. The selection criteria come from delivery experience rather than from a vendor briefing deck.
It also sets the standard the platform is held to. A firm that spends its days telling clients to enforce MFA, log everything, and prove their controls does not get to run a loose platform.
The platform is in active build. Vendor agreements are in negotiation. Founding partner applications are open, and approved founding partners get access as subsystems land, with real influence over build order and which vendors get signed first.
What that means practically: if you need a distributor to move your entire book onto this month, Elev8 Cloud is not ready for that and will tell you so. If you want to help shape a security-first catalog and hold founding terms while it is being built, now is the useful moment.
Founding partners get their tier at approval, hold founding terms through the first program year, and get a real say in which vendors are signed first.
